Finley Period 4 (1/03/11)

We made a concept map on diffusion. We learned about how active and passive diffusion are different or alike. We also gave many examples. We also learned what hypotonic, isotonic, and hypertonic means and how you could remember the difference between hypo and hypertonic.

  1. How do you remember the difference between hypertonic and hypotonic??? I am still confused.
Also, how can you tell the difference between active and passive transport??

  2. Ways to remember the difference between hypotonic and hypertonic are….
    - If you are hyper you have a higher amount of energy (like how hypertonic means there is a higher concentration)
    - Hypo means less or without
    - Hyper has more letters than hypo
Active transport- the process of using energy to move materials through a membrane
Passive transport- materials moving through a cell membrane without using energy
I remember the difference by thinking that if you are active you are using energy(like in active transport energy is used)
